(00:01) [music] [applause] [applause] I love the real event, and the response has been fantastic, and this is the last session, so there will be plenty of lunches and sandwiches, so I hope you all save up and listen. I'd like to talk about learning Defrel's way of thinking and applying it to engineering, and I'd like everyone to tweet about it while you're having your lunch. I'm sure you can tweet about it because you've already tweeted about it a lot.
(The first thing to do is to make sure that you have a good idea of what you're doing and what you're not doing. The most important thing to remember is that the company is not only the company, but the company itself, and the media, is the only one who knows what it is like to be an engineer. The most important thing to remember is that the company's products and services are designed to help you build and maintain an effective relationship with your clients and customers. The company is also a good place to learn about the company's products and services, and to learn about the company's products and services.
(02:07) I've just been introduced as the man with the horse's wig from the west, and I use this horse icon in my tweets and other activities. I'm also involved in the cloud computing area as well as conducting interviews several times a year, and I'm with Nihon Keizai Shimbun. I'm a big fan of community activities, and I've often talked about Level JP, and I've attended 110 Meet-Ups in Tokyo. I've been to 110 meet-ups in Tokyo and I'd like to make the most of what I've learnt here.
(03:11) We are also a company that is committed to the mission, vision and values of the company, especially for engineers. We are going to start our activities in this area, so we need to be progressive and seek for quality. I'm in charge of recruitment, so I have a lot to say about the right side, but today I'd like to talk about the left side, which is the outward-facing side. I am in charge of recruitment on the right side, but today, I would like to talk about the issues that are facing the outside world on the left side.
(04:14) If you read the QR code here, you can see my current slides (04:14). I would like to ask the audience if they knew that Nikkei had an engineering organisation and if they were aware of it, thank you very much. I think that this year, at this point in time, you should be thinking that it has been difficult to recruit engineers for the past 10 years. The company's main goal is to provide a high level of service to its customers, and to help them to achieve their business goals.
(05:17) The Nikkei was originally a company that reduced the number of newspapers it published and invited customers to come in, with reporters reporting and outputting their findings. The company has been making preparations for the Nikkei Digital Edition for the past ten years. The company's products and services are designed to help you to achieve your business goals and to help you to achieve them. The new SR team and the security team will be formed. I was just saying that there is no recognition.
(06:17) But when we took a survey, we found that 40% of the respondents had never heard of it, so we thought that there is room for growth and we should do our best. I was troubled by this, and then I came across a book called "Sleepytime Troubleshooting", which I read. I think it's a good idea to pursue these two areas, strengthening the relationship with the engineers inside the company and not being too close to the outside world. (07:20) We are also looking for ways to strengthen the relationship between engineers in the middle of the city and the city's engineers.
(07:20) I'd like to talk a little bit about our approach as well, and we have our own blog called Hack the Nikkei, and the T-shirt I'm wearing today is now a Nikkei T-shirt. The company's T-shirt is now also a Nikkei T-shirt. The most important thing is to make sure that the company's employees are excited about it. The most important thing is to make sure that the team is not only aware of the importance of output, but also that the engineers are aware of the importance of output.
(08:23) The articles are more for the engineers' age group, so I thought it would be better for them to read about how the engineering organisation works, how the technical staff use such and such, or about internal study groups that are held annually on such themes as telecommuting and working from home. We also hold internal study meetings on these themes, such as telecommuting and working from home, and we talk about how we work and how we strive to improve the candidate experience. The company has been in business for a long time, so we don't really know what makes us tick. We asked the most recent recruits what they liked about the company and what attracted them to the company, and we tried to highlight these points as the attraction of the company.
(The first thing to do is to make sure that the people who are involved in the project are aware of the importance of the project and that they are aware of the importance of the project. The next point of view is that we also hold our own events, as I mentioned earlier, and we also use the language we use in our products, so we can give back to the community. I think it's very important to provide a place for our engineers to present their work to the public, and to provide them with the opportunity to grow by joining this company. The company is also very important as a point of appeal.
(10:30) I was wondering if the project would continue, but I thought it would be no use saying so. I've been involved in community and other activities, so I think I can make use of that. As I mentioned in my presentation earlier, we sponsor technical conferences and other such events, and I'd like to tweet about this in conjunction with the many other places we cooperate with. I'd like to tweet about it, but it's important to keep tweeting about it, not just once.
(The most important thing to remember is that the best way to get the most out of your car is to make sure it's not a car that you're going to be driving. The company's products and services are also available in a wide variety of colors and sizes. The team also asked the internal staff what they were doing in terms of recruiting, and they also prepared a report on their recruiting activities. I'd like to make a casual interview on the technical blog, for example, so that people who want to have a casual interview with the author can feel free to talk to him. Let's create an environment where people can feel free to talk to the author.
(12:39) For example, a new graduate engineer suggested that we create an environment where people who want to have a casual interview with the author can feel free to do so. I think it's very important to cooperate with various people in the company, and this is the basis for such activities. I think it's important to look back on the activities of engineers as well. If you start with a review, the things you have to do next will just pile up and pile up and pile up, and you'll be doing all sorts of things as fast as you can, but that's hard work.
(The most important thing to remember is that the company's products and services are designed to be used by people who want to work in the industry. We have a number of questionnaires for candidates, questionnaires before interviewing them and questionnaires afterwards to see their level of satisfaction. We also do our best to raise awareness of our company, and I think it's important to survey our employees to see if they have any concerns about, for example, the process of referring doctors. The effectiveness of these activities and what we've learned is that they've had a certain effect.
(14:47) I think that 40% of the respondents did not know about the project earlier, but the latest survey showed that 23% of the respondents knew about it, so I think that the project is having a positive effect, but we still have a long way to go. The most recent survey showed that 23% of the respondents were satisfied with the results, but we still have a long way to go. The first thing to do is to make sure that you have a good idea of what you're doing. I'm trying to do this, so when I tweet about it, people inside the company see it and think, "Oh, Nikkei is a company that invests in this kind of thing, in technology.
(15:50) It's also a way of communicating to people in the city that we are a company that invests in technology, and that what we send out to the outside world also goes around to people inside the company. I think it's also a good way to build stronger relationships between the engineers inside the company. I think it's important to finally look at how we can help them to become active in the company by accepting them onboarding them and having them settle in early on. I think it is important to create an environment where people can work in our company with a sense of engagement and satisfaction.
(16:53) We also want people to become attached to the company, to work at the newspaper, to see the rotary press, to see what it is like to publish a newspaper and to get to know us as well. The top of this panel shows the process of gaining recognition, getting to know the company, and then taking action by interviewing the authorities. If they join the company, after they join the company, they get to know about our company, they become active in the company, and then they go around and send out information on the blog, and then they go up to the higher positions.
(17:57) I'm sure you've all been listening to me since yesterday, but based on this I've been talking about the various policies we've been implementing to help engineers in their activities. I think it would be even better if we combined these activities with internal activities, and I think that the transmission of information for this purpose is effective as inner grandstanding. The most important thing to remember is that the most important thing is that you have to be aware of what you're doing and how you're doing it. The first thing I want to do is to make sure that you are aware of what you are doing, and that you are not doing it to yourself.
(18:57) If you're interested, please join us on March 23rd, and you can also refer to what we've learned in this community. Thank you very much for listening to my presentation and I would like to conclude my presentation.
